Ignite – National Technology Fund organized interactive events with the IT industry in Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore to gauge feedback on a proposed road map to enhance Pakistan exports of IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS).

Ignite reached out to the local IT industry for input on policy-level decisions to boost the IT & ITeS exports, human resource development, quality of internet connectivity, and proliferation of e-commerce through the development of local e-commerce platforms as well as to mitigate gaps between academia and related sectors.

These events are being held in collaboration with the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), under the auspices of the Ministry of IT & Telecom.
“We want to ensure that the IT industry views are carefully considered are reflected in the proposed road map to make IT the largest export sector in Pakistan in five years” said Mr. Yusuf Hussain, CEO Ignite, while addressing the attendees.

Ms Anusha Rahman, Minister for IT & Telecom, has been putting special emphasis on improving the export of IT & ITeS in order to help the local IT industry to emerge as one of the leading sources of foreign exchange and job creation.

The first in this series of meet-ups was conducted in Islamabad to discuss a training program for one million freelancers to hone their digital skills, as well as the start-up and cottage commerce portals in Pakistan.

Following the success of these three events, another session is slated to be held soon in Peshawar as well.
