Summary

This project developed the multicore-enabled version of the MPJ Express software for clusters built with multicore processors. It has also developed and executed the parallel Java message passing applications on such clusters. The multicore-enable MPJ Express software has provided an elegant and easy-to-use approach to write high performance applications on the target clusters. Currently the MPJ Express software is multicore-enabled for shared memory processors that exist inside a single box (like a PC or a laptop), but this project aims to take this support to the next level and allow efficient execution of Java parallel programs on clusters built with multicore processors. In addition to multicore-enabling the MPJ Express library for clusters built with multicore processors, the project enhanced its capability by implementing new communication drivers, enhancing performance of existing communication devices, improving quality of the runtime system. Another important aspect is that it has made the software more robust and user-friendly. Currently the public release of the software is stable.
