This decision was made in the 35th Board of Directors meeting of Ignite (Formerly National ICT R&D Fund), chaired by Minister of State For Information Technology & Telecom Ms Anusha Rahman.

Dr. Shahid Qureshi, Member BoD, apprised the other members regarding different avenues of Tech-City model during a detailed presentation highlighting that Ignite (Formerly National ICT R&D Fund) will be responsible for the funding and monitoring of this project under the patronage of Ministry of Information Technology.

The Fund will prepare an RFP, specifying the KPIs. Consequently this project will be replicated and extended to all provinces and metropolitans keeping in view the volume of its success and achievements.

The Tech-City model will become part of an eco-system intended to promote entrepreneurship in Pakistan. It will also provide an equal opportunity to youngsters with IT qualifications from even remote areas of Pakistan to get a chance to show their creativity and launch IT startups
