An Open House / Job Fair is an event where a number of employers and job seekers come together for the purpose of applying and interviewing for jobs. Ignite (Formerly National ICT R&D Fund) has recently launched a new initiative under which the participating universities of Prime Minister’s National ICT Scholarship will be asked this summer to organize job fairs so that graduating beneficiaries like other students are also provided an exclusive access to potential employers.
FAST-NU Islamabad campus organized an Open House for its students on 2nd and 3rd of May. The first day of the fair was dedicated to computer science and engineering students, while the second day was for management science students.
More than 70 scholarship students are enrolled at the FAST-NU Islamabad campus in 2011 batch. These students are still a couple of years away from their graduation, however the Fund has ensured that they were made part of the event and took a feel of the day. An orientation session for the 2011 batch of scholarship students was arranged and they were briefed on the significance of the Open House and the need for the students to stay alive to all such opportunities.
Similar activities are also planned for other universities and campuses. The Fund intends to further facilitate the beneficiaries of Prime Minister’s National ICT Scholarship Program by providing opportunities for them to settle into successful corporate careers. These job fairs are part of a larger canvas planned for the PM NICTSP beneficiaries
