Ignite, Code for Pakistan and IT Ministry are partnering up for the biggest hackathon Islamabad has ever seen.

The 36 hour hackathon will host up to 150 people and is co-organized by Code for Pakistan. People from several walks of life including programmers, designers, urban mappers, data analysts, community organizers, researchers, journalists are welcome.

Islamabad Only

The hackathon will be held from August 19th-20th at National Incubation Center, Islamabad.

For some it can be a learning experience, according to Ignite,

During this weekend, you will learn design thinking, open-source hacking for social good, receive mentoring and input from domain experts in government and local organizations, have opportunities to network, and work in teams to create solutions — all for free.

Addressing Civic and Social Problems

According to Ignite the goal of the hackathon is to create prototypes that address civic and social problems in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

SDGs selected for the hackathon are:

  • Sustainable Cities and Communities

  • No Poverty

  • Responsible Consumption and Production

You will be required to build an open source web, mobile or SMS application for this purpose.

Prize(s)

Winners will get the following prizes:

  • 1st place: Rs. 75,000
  • 2nd place: Rs. 50,000
  • 3rd place: Rs. 25,000
