A commemorative ceremony was organized to ink the initiation of National Incubation Center on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2016 that was celebrated on May 17 at a hotel in Islamabad. Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Finance, Revenue, Statistics Affairs and Privatization, and Ms. Anusha Rahman Ahmad Khan, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications were also present at the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Anusha Rahman highlighted some of the significant achievements of the Ministry of IT. With reference to the National Incubation Center she expressed her excitement on the initiation of this incubator as it will facilitate and guide young and energetic IT professionals to materialize their ideas. Every year 40 start-ups will be hosted in this center with each startup comprising of 5-10 member team.
Housed in National Information Technology Board (NITB) building, the incubator will provide a wide array of business support activities and resources that will include but not limited to technical assistance/mentorship, marketing, trainings, management resources, physical space, shared Information Technology (IT) services and assistance in obtaining startup capital to ensure enterprise growth.
Earlier speaking on the occasion Dr. Ismail Shah, CEO Ignite (Formerly National ICT R&D Fund) shared the importance of tech start-ups and their significant role to spur economic growth. He reiterated the resolve of the Ignite (Formerly National ICT R&D Fund) to take this initiative to other major cities of the country and provide an enabling environment to the young tech entrepreneurs.
