Islamabad – May 16, 2014 – Established under Ministry of Information Technology, Ignite (Formerly National ICT R&D Fund) topromote R&D in ICTs with the vision to transform Pakistan’s economy into knowledge based economy, donated 600 student kits to three interested charitable organizations; Faiz-ul-Islam Rawalpindi, Read Foundation Islamabad and Edhi Foundation Islamabad.
Ignite (Formerly National ICT R&D Fund) imparts “Foundation Training” to eligible students of underserved areas of Pakistan including GB, AJ&K and FATA that register to compete for Prime Minister’s National ICT Scholarship Program under which, so far more than 4,200 scholarships worth up to rupees 3.3 billion have been awarded to talented students of underserved areas out of which 1125 have graduated.
Earlier, while welcoming the guests, Mr. Yasir Qadir, CEO Ignite (Formerly National ICT R&D Fund) said that the real value lies in development of ICT based human resource that can change the dynamics of our economy. We need to put our act together to change the socio-economic landscape of the country. Mr. Yasir also appreciated the efforts and selfless contributions of the charitable organizations.
Representatives of the charitable organizations lauded the gesture of Ignite (Formerly National ICT R&D Fund) that helps their children to prepare for the entrance exams and motivates them for pursuing the higher education.
