About Us
From national incubator to regional accelerator
Ignite — National Technology Fund, Ministry of IT & Telecommunication, signed a cooperation agreement with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to establish the ITU Regional Acceleration Centre in Pakistan. Ignite has designated NICAT, one of the National Incubation Centers it funds, to serve as this Regional Acceleration Centre.
Ignite superheads the Centre and its services, with the Centre’s governing board chaired by the CEO of Ignite. Execution and delivery of services are carried out by NICAT, in close association and collaboration with Ignite, combining NICAT’s operational infrastructure and startup-support experience with Ignite’s national mandate and oversight.
In this role, the Centre serves as a hub for regional innovation, cross-border collaboration, and digital transformation aligned with ITU’s global agenda, and anchored by Ignite’s leadership across Pakistan’s innovation ecosystem.
As a member of the ITU Acceleration Centres Network — one of the flagship vehicles of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alliance for Digital Development — the Centre connects Pakistan’s innovation ecosystem to 17 peer centres established by ITU worldwide. Membership brings the Centre access to ITU’s standard playbooks and pedagogical support, cross-centre knowledge exchange, and a shared global agenda across the Alliance’s five strategic objectives, of which the Centre has prioritised four for Pakistan: Strategic Foresight, Ecosystem Initiative Development, Entrepreneurship & SME Growth, and Open Technology Innovation.
