Its been an eventful 2018 at Ignite, where the rollout of National Incubation Centers at Peshawer, Karachi and Lahore, the launch of DigiSkills.pk, and the Seed Fund reorientation toward smart money provision for Fourth Industrial Wave startups and R&D had to be navigated through two changes in Government and a hiring freeze. We decided to delay publishing of this newsletter until the recent round of Seed Fund grants to make the content more substantive. Now 200+ startups are being incubated or have graduated, a 100k+ trainees have passed through or are passing through DigiSkills.pk, and beta launch of a startup portal allows access for investors, mentors, and partners to help get to that crucial next stage.
Through hackathons and agreements, we also sought to collaborate with other incubators, innovation networks and tech corporations in the ecosystem. Some projects on the horizon, pending approval of the Board of Directors, include GovZip.pk, Government as a Platform, CodiSkills.pk, training high end programmers at scale, and preparing a national AI Strategy. By the Grace of God, 2019 began with a flourish as UNIDO recognized the "remarkable" progress made by IGNITE in Fourth Industrial Revolution tech. We hope you enjoy this edition of the Ignite Newsletter. Please do share your feedback.
